This software makes managing and searching for images shot with cameras and camcorders very easy. The latest version 4.6.ImageBrowser EX is a new image management software program for Canon's digital cameras and digital camcorders. If you are shooting raw, Canon's Digital Photo Professional will do a much better job batch converting CR2 files than Faststone Image Viewer. I'll have to see if I can put the old Zoom Browser on. I don't do a lot of editing, but spend more time with the camera import tool, then maybe some additional lighting touch up and noise reduction. I generally find myself needing to import my images into Photoshop and save them to get the results I want, but that can be tedious. I've played with settings trying to get it behave, but I have had no luck. I haven't researched much into it, as what I was trying to do should have been straight forward. I tried a batch tonight and it decimated all of them. I haven't had a lot of luck with FastStone and doing Batch Conversion of CR2 Raw images. I had the same problems with Image Browser Ex on Win10. I don't personally like modifying things as much as Photoshop users do. FastStone works easily enough, and can do quite a bit of good editing if you want. I'm not aware of any advantages the ImageBrowser et al have over FastStone. You might like the freeware program called FastStone Image Viewer. The newer DPP 4.x will also do all of this but comes with a steeper learning curve. You can choose just about any final resolution you want and modify the JPEG compression too. Or am I just overlooking it? Do I really have to look for yet another piece of software just for compressing images, and if so, what are you using? TIA.ĭPP would work well at downsizing your images. Even Picasa seems to have been replaced by Google Photo, or something to that effect, without any compression faciltities. On the Canon website they only have some very basic importing software called Camera Window. I'm looking for something with which to compress my photos though, and Irfanview doesn't seem to have anything included.
I hadn't used my camera for such a long time, what with the convenience of cellphone and iPad cameras, that I haven't got around to looking for a later version for my new computer, but I did download Irfanview. I used to have ZoomBrowser EX and then, I think, ImageBrowser EX on my computer, but I got a new computer some time ago, and upgraded it to Windows 10.
